We want to remind residents about our waste collection guidelines.

NORTHWEST HARRIS COUNTY MUD 16 WASTE GUIDELINES

Collection Days

Trash and recycling services are provided by Best Trash.

● Trash is collected on Wednesday and Saturday.

● Recycling is collected on Saturday.

● All carts should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on collection days.

Trash and Bulk Waste Guidelines

Residents must supply their own trash container sized between 30–50 gallons.

● Extra trash must be placed in 30–50-gallon containers or bags, weighing no more than

40 lbs..

● Yard and Bulk Waste is collected on both service days (Wednesday and Saturday).

○ Yard waste must be bundled (must be ≤4 ft long, ≤4 in diameter, and ≤40 lbs).

○ Bulk items include furniture, appliances, mattresses, and carpet. Carpet should

be from a maximum of one room, cut, and bundled.

○ Refrigerated appliances must be drained, and proof of service must be

provided.

● Excluded Items (will not be collected):

○ Construction debris, dirt, rocks, bricks, tile, and concrete.

○ Tires, batteries, motor/cooking oil, and hazardous materials.

○ Liquids in hidden containers (e.g., paint, gasoline).

Recycling Guidelines

● Use the Best Trash 18-gallon bin (one per household).

● Extra recycling can be placed in 30 to 50-gallon containers or clear bags, weighing no

more than 40 lbs..

● Recyclable items include:

○ Paper, including cardboard.

○ Plastics (types 1-5, and 7).

○ Aluminum and Tin Cans.

○ Glass (all colors).

○ Cardboard is recyclable—please break down all boxes flat and place them next

to the recycling container.

Holiday Schedule

No collection occurs on the following holidays:

● New Year’s Day

● Memorial Day

● Independence Day

● Labor Day

● Thanksgiving Day

● Christmas Day

Service will resume on the next regularly scheduled collection day.
